5 Star Garage Door Service's Newburyport, MA technicians replace worn cables before they fail, and re-seat drums that have slipped out of alignment.
5 Star Garage Door Service trains Newburyport, MA technicians on this exact service line so you're not the one teaching them on the job.
This specialization is why Newburyport, MA customers call us back for the same issue instead of shopping around each time.
We check both cables and both drums together, since wear rarely happens in isolation.
We use cables rated to your door's actual weight and spring tension.
Cables work under spring tension — we release tension safely before replacement.
Cables are common stock on our trucks, so most jobs finish in one visit.
Even a few loose strands mean a cable is close to failing under load — replacement cable gets sized to match your spring tension exactly.
A cable that's already snapped usually means the door dropped or hangs crooked — we never operate a door on a snapped cable.
A cable that's slipped off its drum causes uneven hanging — we re-seat it and correct the underlying cause.
Extension spring systems should run safety cables to prevent whip-back — we add these where missing.
The bracket anchoring the cable to the door corrodes over time — we repair or replace it as part of cable service.

Not always, but we inspect both since matched wear is common.
If you notice either, call +1-866-597-3069 before the cable fails completely.
Yes — a snapped cable under spring tension can cause the door to drop suddenly.
We don't recommend it — cables work under spring tension requiring proper tools.
They run through extension springs to contain them if the spring fails.
We check cable condition as part of any service call, even unrelated ones.
